This allows one to stay informed of any registered sex offenders residing near their home, work, daycare, school, parks, public library, etc. A user can search for sex offenders near an address. They can also click on the sex offender icon and view information about the offender on the mapping interface. MapNimbus also allows one to click a link and visit the state's sex offender site directly for more detailed information. AMBER & SILVER ALERTS
AMBER stands for America's Missing: Broadcast Emergency Response. The acronym was derived in honor of Amber Hagerman, who was kidnapped and killed in 1996.
The North Carolina Child Alert Notification (NC CAN) System was formally established in the summer of 2002 with NCGA General Statute § 143B-499.7. The purpose of NC CAN was to establish a statewide system to quickly disseminate information regarding abducted children. An amendment was signed by Governor Michael Easley on June 12, 2003, renaming the NC CAN system the AMBER Alert system.
To help protect an increasing population of individuals that suffer from dementia or other cognitive impairment, North Carolina developed the Silver Alert program to quickly locate missing persons who may be endangered.
The following links will direct you to any current Amber or Silver alerts issued for North Carolina. They will also provide you with information on how to report any information associated with the alerts as well as how to report a missing person.
