MISSION STATEMENT OF THE
SPRING LAKE FIRE DEPARTMENT
The primary mission of the Town of Spring Lake Fire Department shall be to provide
to the Town of Spring Lake:
- The best possible fire protection and emergency response services for
the sick and injured;
- Education of the public to the hazards and dangers of fire;
- Assistance to improving the control of and elimination of fire hazards.
The Spring Lake Fire Department is dedicated to the safety, health and well being
of the entire Spring Lake Community; committed to maintaining the highest professional
standards in order to provide services necessary to protect all citizens from
loss of life and/or property regardless of race, creed, age, religion, handicap,
or nationality.
FIRE DEPARTMENT CREED
As members of the Fire Service, we are members of one of the world's largest
brotherhoods. We are a group of people dedicated to the service of others, the
saving of lives and protection of property.
The Fire Service knows no racial, religious, political or geographical boundaries.
It gives unselfishly of its time, energy and sometimes lives. It receives thanks,
smiles of gratitude and feelings of satisfaction and inward growth. There are
times when it sees tears, suffering, extreme personal loss and even death, of
others and of its own. There are times when it also receives criticism, degradation
and general thanklessness for doing its very best against hell's own fury.
We belong because we dare to defy one of man's most deadly enemies. We dare because
something inside us is unique. We fight our enemy side-by-side and we may die
side-by-side. Therefore, it follows that we should live, laugh and play side-by-side.
We must resolve to stand together in support of each other in our own departments
and our brothers in neighboring departments. We must be secure in the knowledge
that they do their very best as do we.
FIREMAN'S PLEDGE
I pledge myself to fulfill, to the best of my ability, all duties of a good firefighter
and to abide by the By-Laws and Guidelines of the Spring Lake Fire Department.
Furthermore, I pledge to keep all department business confidential. If I cannot
speak well of my fellow firefighters, I will not speak ill of them.
