Town Manager

Tommy Burns was hired in June 2011 as Town Manager of Spring Lake after serving as Town Manager in Lillington, NC from January 2007 to May 2011 and Town Manager of Coats, NC, September 2004-December 2006. He has also served as an Instructor of Business and Economics at Central Carolina Community College in Sanford and Adjunct Instructor of Governmental and Non-Profit Accounting at Wake Technical Community College in Raleigh. Burns received a Bachelor of Arts in History and a Masters degree in Business, both from Campbell University. He is scheduled to complete a Master of Public Administration degree from UNC Pembroke in early 2013. He is a graduate of the Municipal and County Administration program at the UNC Chapel Hill School of Government. Mr. Burns is a member of the Omicron Delta Kappa honor society, North Carolina City and County Management Association, International City and County Management Association (ICMA) and Spring Lake Kiwanis Club. He and his wife, Kamie, a Harnett County native, have a son, Eli, and a daughter, Addy. He looks to continue serving Spring Lake and pledges his part to make Spring Lake an even better place to live and work.
