Attention Spring Lake Residents:

Waste Industries reported there were mechanical issues with their truck and was unable to finish Thursday route. Residents that were scheduled to have their waste and recycling picked on Thursday, June 21st route will be picked up on Friday, June 22nd.


It’s Time to Register for Fall Sports

Registration for Youth Fall Sports is now OPEN! Fall Sports include: Youth Soccer ages 3-12 (age as of Dec. 1, 2018 except U4 which is Sept. 9, 2018); Youth Football ages 5-12 (age as of Dec. 1, 2018) and Youth Cheerleading ages 5-12 (age as of Aug. 1, 2018.) Registration fee is $20 for residents and $40 for non-residents. Registration form, birth certificate and fee must be on file by registration deadline. You can register online at https://springlake.recdesk.com or download a registration form below. You can also stop by the Community Center located at 245 Ruth Street. Registration deadline is August 4, 2018. There is no better time to GET IN THE GAME!

Town Works Hard on Code Enforcement; Encourages Residents to Join in Efforts

Code Enforcement is out working hard this year to keep our Town looking clean. Please keep your yards in compliance with the Town’s ordinance. Below is a list of violations that the Code Enforcement can write a citation.

Grass/Trash – The existing conditions, specifically the accumulation of trash, junk, grass and weeds in the excess of twelve inches

Nuisance Vehicle – A breeding ground for pest, high weed/grass under or around vehicle, collection for pools of water, a danger of falling or turning over.

Junk Motor Vehicle – A vehicle that appears inoperable as evidenced by stationary characteristics of being dismantled/wrecked, cannot be moved, more than 5 years old and appears worth less than $100.00, does not display a current license plate.

Violators can be charged a $100.00 civil penalty per day until the violation is abated.

Spring Lake Board of Aldermen Meetings Streaming Live

The Town of Spring Lake began live streaming its Board of Aldermen meetings as of Monday, April 23, 2018.
The April 23, 2018 regularly scheduled meeting of the Spring Lake Board of Aldermen was a first of its kind. It was streamed live on the Town’s YouTube page. The streamed meeting is now archived there, where it will remain so the public can watch at its convenience. Moving forward, all meetings of the Board of Aldermen will be streamed live on YouTube. A link directly to the Town’s YouTube channel will be placed on the Town’s website on the Board Meeting Information page.
Reminders will be placed on the Town’s social media sites and the Town’s app to remind residents of the live stream. All recordings will be stored on YouTube and archived in accordance with public record laws and best practices for social media usage as recommended by North Carolina Department of Cultural Resources.

Screen on the Green and Food Truck Rodeo

Spring Lake Recreation and Parks is proud to announce the 2018 Screen on the Green and Food Truck Rodeo! This year’s schedule began on Friday, June 8th. All movies are free and will be shown at Mendoza Park. The next event is scheduled for Friday, July 13th. Festivities begin at 6:00 pm and will conclude at 10:00 pm. Grab your lawn chairs or blankets and head to the park for great entertainment. This year, we are adding food trucks! To meet all your hunger cravings, there will be an array of food trucks on hand to meet your hunger needs. The closer it gets to each showing, we will post and list the options and more details. If you are a food truck vendor and are interested in joing this exciting opportunity, check out more details on the documents page and call the Recreation Department at (910) 436-0011.

Participate in a Board Meeting by Delivering the Invocation

The Mayor and Board of Aldermen of the Town of Spring Lake invite local pastors and/or residents of all denominations, faiths, beliefs and backgrounds to participate in regularly scheduled meetings of the Spring Lake Board of Aldermen by giving the Invocation at a regularly scheduled meeting.  Meetings are held the second and fourth Monday of every month at 7:00 pm unless otherwise noted. All meetings are held in the Grady Howard Conference Room of the Spring Lake Municipal Building located at 300 Ruth Street, Spring Lake. The Spring Lake Board of Aldermen encourages all segments of the community to take advantage of the opportunity to engage in the governmental process first hand regardless of age, gender, race, creed, nationality, sexual orientation or religion. If you are interested, please contact the Town Clerk  or call (910) 703-8900 to make arrangements and schedule your Board meeting date.

When information is most critical and you need to know, you can have updates and information sent straight to your device. The Town has a free “app” available for most devices in the GooglePlay Store and in the AppStore.  The “I Love Spring Lake, NC” app is an app that can send push notices straight to your device. In addition to receiving updates from the Town, the app lets you: pay your water bill, check all social media, check the Town’s event calendar, check the sanitation schedules, check the bus schedule, register for Recreation activities, one-touch key most Town Departments and more!  In addition to the above, the app allows you to report issues and concerns straight from your device and allows you to track the progress once you have submitted it.  The app is only getting better!
