As a member of the Spring Lake Police Department, we are committed to providing quality police service to the residents who live in the Town of Spring Lake.  We strive to improve the quality of life for our citizens by enforcing laws, maintaining order and protecting life and liberty, with respect to all, in a highly professional manner. We look for these qualities in our applicants and expect it from all we hire.

We continually seek qualified men and women to help us continue our tradition of providing the Town of Spring Lake with the best possible law enforcement service. To join our force, a Police Officer must:

  • possess a minimum of a High school diploma or GED equivalent AND
  • be at least 21 years of age or older at the time of hire AND
  • possess a Valid NC driver license with acceptable driving record AND
  • No felony convictions and/or disqualifying misdemeanors AND
  • Have successfully completed  NC Basic Law Enforcement Training prior to hire date

All candidates must successfully complete a physical exam to include a drug and alcohol screen, criminal background check, driving record check and additional requirements are required as a condition of employment.

The nature of police work involves the enforcement of laws and ordinances, the prevention and investigation of crimes, the ability to exercise independent discretion and at times, involves the protection of life and property. A police officer must possess integrity, intelligence and stand up to rigorous personal, ethical, moral and physical challenges.
